Shared mobile devices can be an efficient way to support teams working across multiple shifts, departments, or locations. Barcode scanners, mobile computers, tablets, and payment terminals can move from one employee to another throughout the day instead of remaining assigned to a single user.
But when responsibility for a device changes several times during a 24-hour period, small gaps in the handoff process can create operational problems. Equipment may be returned with a low battery, damage may go unreported, or hardware may not be where the next shift expects it.
For operations, IT, and procurement teams, the goal is to establish a repeatable process for how shared equipment is assigned, returned, checked, and prepared for the next user.
